The Richard H. Wilkinson Research Fellowship
Applications are due November 15th, 2016 for awards in 2017.
The application form can be found here as a fillable PDF. Please email completed form along with a two-page cv to UAEE@egypt.arizona.edu.
The Fellowship supports Egyptological and archaeological research in the area of ancient Thebes or elsewhere in Upper Egypt. It provides round-trip airfare/transportation from anywhere in the world to Luxor, lodging in Luxor at Wilkinson House (a west bank villa and research center), use of our resources in Luxor (e.g., equipment), assistance of our staff, and a modest stipend for personal expenses ($250/month).
Applications will be accepted for durations of stay lasting between two and twelve weeks only.
Scholarship in all areas of study and time periods prior to 30 BCE are eligible.
The fellowship is available to scholars at any stage of their career. Students are eligible only if advanced to doctoral candidacy (“ABD” or equivalent) with a record of published peer-reviewed research. Fellows must be engaged in research related to Upper Egypt. The work must directly and clearly benefit from being based in Luxor for the proposed period and may be a stand-alone project or part of an ongoing program of research.
While fellows are encouraged to coordinate their proposed period of study with scholarly events or collaborations (i.e., conferences, workshops, fieldwork), the fellowship is intended to support research, not conference travel or excavation.
